The highly anticipated rematch between OKTAGON Bantamweight champion Felipe Lima and number one contender Jonas Magard will go down at OKTAGON 59.
Their first bout took place at OKTAGON 45, when Lima dethroned Magard to become the new champion at 135lbs with a unanimous decision win.
The champion has not competed since winning the title but will look to make his first defence inside the Peugeot Arena in Bratislava, Slovakia on July 20.
There was no love lost between the two heading into the initial contest and this was only magnified following Lima's win.
At just 25, Lima's rise through the ranks to eventually get has hands on the belt has been swift. After losing his professional debut, the Brazilian currently finds himself on a 12 fight winning streak.
After wins on the likes of Brave and FCR, Lima got the call up to OKTAGON midway through 2023, with his impressive resume landing him a title shot immediately. Over the 5 rounds, Lima dominated and kept his impressive run alive.
Magard has competed once since losing the belt, in another bad blood bout against Jack Cartwright. Heading in to the contest, it was thought that the two would stand and have a striking war but Magard had other ideas. After the first round was largely contested on the feet, with Magard edging it, the former champion opted to take the fight to the floor and outwrestle Cartwright for the rest of the duration.
With the win, Magard moved himself into the number one contender spot and left him with his eyes firmly fixed on on his Lima rematch.
Prior to the first Lima bout, 'Shark' had been a regular at OKTAGON events since signing with the promotion in 2021. In his promotional debut, Magard burst onto the scene with a second round submission win against Elnur Veliev, he then picked up another win against Filip Macek which secured his first title shot, against Gustavo Lopez.
A huge right hook in the second round, followed up by a barrage of strikes was enough to make the referee step in and Magard took the title back to Denmark.
There are no other bouts scheduled for OKTAGON 59 at the time of writing.
