What a difference a year makes as Daniel Cormier loses his title and with it, control over how he leaves the stage.

Publication date of this issue will mark almost exactly a year since Daniel Cormier overcame the considerable challenge of Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 (pictured). After the fight, Cormier talked about retirement, an idea he rejected in favor of giving Stipe Miocic his deserved re-match. With that ending in defeat, Cormier now says he wants to make a trilogy fight with Miocic, his MMA swan song. But nothing is certain in this game and in these pages, Miocic's camp say they are in no rush to schedule that fight with DC. Will it happen? Who can say, but even if it does, what price a Cormier victory given the comprehensive nature of Miocic's dominance over him? Meanwhile, Lewis, on a two-fight losing streak, readies himself for a tear-up with Blagoy Ivanov at UFC 244, a monster card headlined by Masvidal vs Diaz. The sport just keeps rolling on.
